Call for Backers! DreamForge: A Magazine of Science & Fantasy Fiction Campaign on Kickstarter

A new science fiction and fantasy market is about to launch, and they’re calling for Kickstarter backers to help get them off the ground. DreamForge, headed up by Scot Noel, is recruiting “dreamers, heroes, and optimists” to back, submit to, and subscribe to this new magazine. Check out their Kickstarter video above!

This magazine is an exciting addition to the publishing market and Noel is open to all the subgenres of speculative fiction. The overarching theme is hope.

In all worlds and times, our tales revolve around those communities and individuals who bring meaning and value to the world, whose actions are of consequence, and whose dreams are the vanguard of things to come.

Magazine-CoverDreamForge has also made a commitment to feature unique and underrepresented voices.

At DreamForge Magazine, we welcome comment, input, and contributions from people with wide ranging and diverse experiences in life. There are many possible futures and many more worlds of the imagination. We would be poor indeed to imagine only one wearisome and uniform reality.

Toward that end, DreamForge will, as policy, reach out to underrepresented and marginalized voices, including but not limited to authors who may be women, people of color, LGBTQIA people, and people with disabilities. Your futures are as compelling, your dreams as engaging as any to be found.

By the same token, we welcome the engagement and contributions of individuals from groups traditionally seen as empowered and privileged. Ultimately, whether you are a straight white male or a queer woman of color, we shall not assume that you write or speak in the voice of or as a representative of any group, only that your unique life experience may bring with it perception, discernment, and values worthy of being shared. We cannot and will not judge any individual by an arbitrary category in which they may be placed by others, by circumstance, or by fortune.

At DreamForge, skill, integrity, and civility define our business, our vision, and our community. Our goal is neither controversy nor confrontation, rather ours to speak of indomitable human and humane values; to imagine the possibilities for a greater tomorrow, engage the hopeful spirits of today, and inspire the strong and the willing among us to make a difference.

The arc by which fiction changes the world is long and subtle; we hope you will join us in playing a small part with DreamForge Magazine.

I’m excited to see another pro market emerge. Head on over to Kickstarter or their website and check it out!

Given that I subscribed to Black Gate magazine before the first issue was even published—long before Kickstarted existed, I believe?—you know I am there.
