Mr. Proctor, Thanks so much for making this game! Can't wait to try out LL. This post is fortuitious as I recently planned a LL campaign (last week). I haven't played D&D for years. Why? Because there was something *so* alienating about the art of D&D 3 and 3.5 and, GODS! the abomination they call D&D 4 (sorry to get polemic here). I quit seriously RPing in 1996, with the release of 3. And since then, I've had lots of conversations (*cough* arguments) with my "non-Grognard" friends about why 3.5 and 4 are horrible. They don't budge. I don't budge. What did this teach me? Well, it's my impression that one's preference for this or that D&D experience is an *aesthetic* preference. Why does this person prefer, say, orchestral music over hip hop? Why does that person prefer Franz Frazetta over, say, Warhol? Can't really say. Ultimately, any articulation as to why you might feel this or that way about a D&D experience is going to fall short of the reality. The primary issue, is, that there is indeed a consumer base and community for OSR. WoTC doesn't have a monopoly on fantasy roleplaying, which has always, always been more about communities and friends and less about product lines and marketing campaigns/slogans. Once again, thanks! Thanks!
