Hey, Bill!

Thanks for the comments! I'm glad there's someone else out there reading for those details.

I should add: MM says (in his appearance at Joe Mallozzi's book-club) that Stormbringer was originally conceived as a novel, and the exigencies of magazine publishing forced the book to appear as a series of novellas, so the novel was not really a fix-up. Sort of a fix-down, or something.

Oh, and I couldn't agree more with this:

"His epic cosmology (with the balance of Law and Chaos and the Eternal Champion and all that) has drawn a lot of attention, and I’m not knocking it. It’s been tremendously influential. But for me the triumph of his heroic fantasy is in these evocative details, sparks flying off from a white-hot typewriter and burning into the imagination."

I've been debating whether I should get these new editions or not, as I have several of versions of the Elric saga in it's 'fixed up' state already and those were always fine with me. But I think I would actually like to revisit them in order of publication now that I've read this.
