The price is definitely more of the sort of thing an aficionado or fan would be comfortable with, as I know I firmly believe in voting with my wallet and Saunders' books are worth every penny. But I have to agree that for casual readers the price is somewhat discouraging. Still, the first two volumes from Night Shade can be had for a good price from Amazon or Barnes & Noble, so entry into the series isn't prohibitive.
